About six years ago my girlfriend and I were lucky enough to go on a cruise around the Eastern Caribbean, taking in amazing sites such as Half Moon Cay in the Bahamas and St Maarten. We instantly fell in love with it; I mean what’s not to like? Majestic islands, golden beaches and crystal blue waters and not to mention the food – jerk chicken being one of my favourites.

We enjoyed it so much, we have been returning to the Caribbean for our annual holiday ever since. We’ve tried to take in as many of the islands as possible, sometimes on cruises and we have also done some island hopping on rickety old boats too, with nothing more than a rucksack. Whichever method we have used to explore these fabulous islands we have never been disappointed, with it throwing up something new and exciting with every visit.

Here are some of our favourite places to enjoy a luxurious Caribbean holiday:

The Cayman Islands

This is definitely one of my favourite places to visit, consisting of 3 islands; the Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman. I really enjoy the atmosphere of George Town, which is the capitol of Grand Cayman with its busy docks and vibrant nightlife. My girlfriend enjoys the quieter Little Cayman, although a long way from the bigger Grand Cayman the nice beaches and blue waters offers some excellent diving.

St Maarten – St Martin

This beautiful island is amazing with tropical beaches, rain forests and fantastic landscapes – a must for any Caribbean adventurer.

Dominican Republic

With its sprawling beaches, rain forests, mountain ranges and even a desert, the Dominican Republic is definitely a place to visit and if you’re like me and like a game of golf there some pretty good courses available.

Tobago

One of the Caribbean’s untouched islands, with its tranquil beaches and small fishing villages it seems time forgot about this place, This is why it’s one of my favourites places to just come and relax, oh did I mention the diving here is just incredible too.

There are so many islands and so much to do in the Caribbean I could spend all day writing, but I suppose at the end of the day you just need to visit for yourself.
