It’s quite a bold statement to say that you will visit somewhere and be assured that you will want to visit again, that’s because there are so many fantastic destinations to choose from why would you choose the same? Well, one of the main reasons you will want to go back to Santorini is simply because you won’t have had enough time to do all of the fantastic sights and activities on offer. Then of course you will want to meet the friendly locals again, eat as much of the delicious food as possible and soak up the sun. If that isn’t enough to wet your appetite then all you have to do is take a look at how easy this place is on your wallet, Santorini offers such fantastic value for money making it pretty much irresistible.
I was lucky enough to first visit back in 2009; my Valentines Day present to my girlfriend was a romantic Santorini holiday. Unfortunately the relationship didn’t last but my love for Santorini is as strong as ever. Of course you don’t need to be a couple to visit all different types of holiday makers can be found there; families, couples, groups of friends and backpackers – there’s something for everyone.
As you can probably guess I think it’s one of my favourite holiday destinations, with it being such a short flight away from the UK there really is no excuse not to visit as much as possible. If you do find yourself planning a holiday to Santorini, and believe me you should, then here are some things that I think are a crime not to visit.
This makes the list because it is such an amazing spectacle and something that you have to see. The volcano alone is worth the visit itself, but just to make this place even better you can also visit some fantastic hot springs as well.
If you’re on holiday then you have every excuse to try a few relaxing drinks. There are lots of wineries in Santorini and nearly all of them offer daily tours. It makes for a great afternoon wandering through the vineyards, sampling the wine and then buying a bottle or two for a picnic the next day.
This is where the bottle you bought from the winery tour will come in handy! Make sure that you wear a good pair of shoes because it is not the easiest walk on the planet but it is definitely worth it. Once at the top you will be able to reward yourself with some delicious food and wine (you brought with you) whilst taking in the stunning views from high up above the city of Oia.
Have you ever been to Santorini? If you have then I would love to hear what places you enjoyed visiting, do you agree with my top three or is there anything you think I need to add? All you need to do is pop your favourite places in the comments sections below I am looking forward to reading them all soon!
